As in the last 2 previous years Beerhouse organised the ‘People’s Choice Award’ and for a third year running the winner is Zamalek, old SAB’s Carling Black Label, showing what marketing and market share do to customer’s perception and how much work is still ahead for the craft beer movement to turn into a mass-market product. All other medals were rated by certified beer judges and sommeliers with a final best of show tasting where beers where judged for subjective ‘drinkability’

Beerhouse has officially launched its first crowdfunding campaign seeking to raise R3 million for its new Tygervalley branch in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs, which was previously home to the iconic Starlite Diner.
Boasting an impressive and inclusive beer variety, delicious handcrafted brew food and a vibey social atmosphere, Beerhouse has quickly become a household name in South Africa as the navigators and curators of the world’s oldest beverage. At Beerhouse it is our duty to deliver variety, which we do through our famous 99 bottles of beer on the wall, which includes 25+ beers on tap, ciders, wine and spirits. Many microbreweries in South Africa do not own their own dispense equipment which makes the market saturated with large breweries that do have the infrastructure to flood the market with their products. We, at Beerhouse, own all our equipment ensuring we give the ‘little guy’ a podium to shine on. This gives Beerhouse a competitive edge over any potential competitors.
Beerhouse represents all that is loved from traditional German beer drinking halls in a contemporary South African space.
We’ve partnered with the pioneering equity crowdfunding platform Uprise.Africa, that will run the campaign and represent all shareholders interest.
By investing the minimum of R1 000 (1 share) you will not only own a piece of Beerhouse Tygervalley but you will be invited to the shareholders group where you will have insight into the business as well as being a part of the business decisions, AGM’s and also benefit from the returns on your investment.

As the home of the Beer Revolution and tasting room for South African beer, we are proud to host the South African National Beer Trophy – SANBT 2019 – Beerhouse People’s Choice Awards.
The Award ceremony will be held on Thursday the 15th of August at Beerhouse on Long. The Beerhouse People’s Choice Awards are to be voted in store at Long Street and Fourways. You can also vote online HERE for the beer you believe to be South Africa’s Best. By voting you stand a chance to win a R999 Beerhouse Voucher.
Beerhouse is passionate about providing a podium for local breweries to shine on. We also aim to bridge the gap between the brewer and beer consumer; the Beerhouse People’s Choice Awards enable us to do that. Beers that are entered into the SANBT are blind tasted and rated by certified beer judges according to BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program) guidelines. Beerhouse introduces the People’s Choice award by opening up the voting to the public and puts the power in the consumer’s hand and cultivates a true beerocracy.
SANBT was launched in 2015, with the aim to offer a fair, independent and reliable assessment of the burgeoning local beer scene, and to provide the best-emerging brewers with the recognition they deserve. Over the last two years, brewer participation in the competition has grown substantially. In 2015, 56 South African beers were entered into the competition; 95 in 2016 and over 200 beers in 2019 with gold and silver medals to be awarded.
Let’s drink up and vote!
Please cast your vote at Beerhouse Long Street or Fourways or online HERE
Each company thinks that they have the worlds best staff, but here at Beerhouse we know that we really do have some of the worlds best staff.
Here is why:
We have some incredibly loyal staff. In the hospitality industry it can be a struggle to hold onto staff; many of the times it isn’t the right culture fit, they have moved industries or can’t keep up with the hours that the hospitality industry demands.
These staff members have not only been employed for more than a year (which is an accomplishment in it’s own) but some have been with us for half a decade! WOW!
Some of these staff members have developed their careers at Beerhouse, from waiters to managers or cleaners to bartenders. They are all perfect pictures of the culture that we have developed at Beerhouse.
Not only a love for beer and food but a desire to develop themselves and advance their careers.
Happy work anniversary to the following staff and we look forward to the next year of hard work and many beers!

Her favorite thing about working at Beerhouse is the culture, the people and the vibe we create. If she could learn anything it would be to fly a plane. Her favorite thing to do in Cape Town is go to the beach and go on road trips (so Capetonian). If she could meet anyone dead or alive it would be businesswoman and talk show host, Felicia Mabuza-Suttle.
