Beerhouse on Long, our trendy, busy restaurant has a vacancy for an Assistant Manager. We are looking for someone who is a manager NOT a boss or a supervisor. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Performing the role of Standard Bearer
- Ensuring an exceptional guest experience
- Driving the vision, mission and values of the company throughout all operational facets
- Enforcing sanitation standards and procedures, and complying with H&S regulations
- Maintaining security systems
- Briefing staff on the daily specials, low stock items and items that need to be shifted
- Working with the Head Chef to ensure smooth operations from kitchen to table
- Managing customer concerns and complaints to an exceptionally high standard
- Recording customer incidents, security concerns, staff matters and stock issues in hand-over documents
- Maintain and stock waiter-stations
- Evaluate, develop and enforce company policies and procedures
- Recording of wastage
- Reconciling daily takings
- Float Management
- Managing and maintaining Change Box and Petty Cash
- Accounting for all product cancellations
- Assisting Stock- and General Managers with daily stock counts
- Issuing of stock on-shift
- Accurate recording of stock issued from store
- Investigate stock discrepancies and work with HR to enforce corrective actions
- Assist the General Manager and work with HR with onboarding of new staff
- Assist the General Manager and work with HR with ongoing training and development of staff
- Work closely with HR to maintain fair labour practices and updated employee information files
- Work with HR in recruitment of staff – secondary interviews and evaluations of potential staff
- Assist the General Manager with the creation of weekly staff rotations
- Assist the General Manager with monthly payroll
- Coordinating leave requests
- Assist HR and the General Manager with quarterly staff appraisals and career management reviews
- Managing and taking responsibility for closing procedures
- Complete hand-over document recording
- Co-chair bi-monthly management meetings and follow-up on minuted actions
- Chair monthly staff meetings
Our absolute minimum requirements:
- Track record of excellent service in the restaurant industry
- At least 3 years’ experience as a FOH Floor Manager
- At least 1 years’ experience in a similar Assistant Manager role
- Exceptional communication skills
- Proven ability to effectively lead a team – we want a leader, not a boss or supervisor
- Personable, friendly and professional demeanour
- Analytical thinker, problem-solver and all-round multi-tasker who isn’t afraid to get his/her hands dirty
- Ability to manage high stress levels in a demanding environment whilst maintaining optimum levels of professionalism and integrity
Renumeration
R12000 – R14000, depending on experience
