Thobani – quiet; unassuming; #foodie. Thobani hails from Zimbabwe; the youngest of 7 children. His childhood dream was to be a Chef. He has always loved food, his favourite dish to cook from scratch being pap and chicken. He even studied Food and Nutrition as one of his subjects in school. His dreams, however, were shattered when he was unable to finish school – his parents both died while he was in high school and there was no one who could continue paying for his school fees. However, his luck changed and life (and his sisters) brought him to Diepsloot; Johannesburg. Sunny South Africa had altered his life journey for good. He was given the opportunity to follow his passion; starting out in a Fish and Chip shop. But the fire burned bright and he needed to explore more. He met Princess who offered him a job at Beerhouse. He started off as a sculler back in April 2016 – focused; determined and hard-working. Thobani is one of the Beerhouse Success Stories. He soon worked his way up to being a Line Cook. He can’t really hide his secret super-power… Thobani’s peaceful nature has helped him to forge strong relationships with his teammates. His secret super-power is even found in his Beer-Counterpart – a sweet; lovable Kopparberg.

3 reasons why Thobani loves being a Line Cook at Beerhouse:

  1. “Beerhouse takes care of me. They take care of their people.”

  1. “I have good managers. They respect me.”

  1. “I just love being here. I love the environment and the atmosphere.”

Thobani’s WHY… his reasons for working at Beerhouse are very simple and so genuine: “I have a good job title. I got to work my way up from a sculler to a line cook and do what I love. My money problems are gone – I get good money here. We all love food and beer here. I’m happy. Very happy.”
