Cask Ale at Beerhouse on Long

Join us and Steve Peel from Shackleton Brewing Company for some Cask Ale poured from a traditional beer engine, a Q&A on the art of cask and some merriment from 6:30pm till 8:30pm Friday 1st June.

We will be tapping a cask of delicious Shackleton Brewing Company’s Pale Ale! We have long been admirers of this traditional method and technique of conditioning and serving beer.

But why all the fuss? What’s the difference between cask and keg?

That old adage, “they don’t make them like they use to”, rings true when it comes to cask. Cask ale is a beer at it’s best and purest form that gives a gentler level of carbonation, a rounder mouthfeel, and since it is unfiltered, usually shows a slightly more complex flavour and aromatic profile to kegged beer. It is considered a live product due to yeast sediment in suspension which conditions the beer naturally. Keg’s while presenting a beer almost brewery fresh can’t compete with the changing and evolving complexity of a cask ale.

Welcome to the past where some things were made better!

Beerhouse Centurion to move on

It is with regret that we announce the closing of Beerhouse Centurion to reopen at a new location. In our 18 months of opening, we have been privileged to serve the community with our curated variety of beer, brew food and events. We have had some truly wonderful guests who have further enriched our diverse tapestry.

We pride ourselves on the values of transparency, diversity and integrity and with this, in mind, we wish to thank everyone that came to our yellow house of beer and enjoyed our curated variety of beer, brew food and events. Unfortunately, we could not make it a viable business at this location due to forces out of the site management and staff’s control. It is no secret that we have struggled to make the shop profitable and have held town hall meetings with the local community, industry representatives and staff to find a way to resolve our challenges.

We actioned many ideas generated from this open forum over the last three months. While we did see an increase in new faces we could not fill our large house consistently enough to keep trading.

Many lessons have been learnt which will make our future growth stronger. With two established business we will look to forge on with our vision of ‘beer connecting people’ galvanizing our teams resolve.

It is regrettable with such closure that job losses are unavoidable. We have endeavored to re-employ as many of our staff as possible at our Beerhouse Fourways branch. However, we are appealing to you and local business to contact us for employment leads and opportunities. Please email and we will supply you with CVs of well trained and loyal staff.

We now look to relocate in the Gauteng area and are excited about some opportunities. We will need your help with this. Find us a new location in Irene, Pretoria or Johannesburg and win all 99 bottles of beer.  Email leads to

We have contacted our suppliers and will be honouring all our agreements. If you have any queries please contact .

Our last trading day with this Saturday the 26th May. Join us for some beer, brewfood and Local is Lekker Live Music line up!

Cheers for the Beers!

The Beerhouse Team.
