So we thought we would update you with the purpose of our latest Pints for Purpose initiative. For those for you new to this Beerhouse facilitated Charity drive, here is the run down. Our partner brewers donate kegs of delicious beer. We sell it to our loyal beer lovers and all profits go to charity. For our second edition of ‘Pints for a Purpose’ we teamed up with the Lions Club, Red Sky Brew, Striped Horse and Atlantic Storm and raised funds for a Christmas party for kids in Khayelitsha.
The Children attend an Educare near their homes and are between 4 and 7 years old. The Lions Club of Tygerberg Hill together with the Sarmmie Mommies make and donate sandwiches to these kids every week to help keep their bellies full while at school. They rely heavily on donations and hand-me-downs.
We decided that it would be an unforgettable experience for the children if they could attend the annual Lions District Christmas Party. This Christmas party is held at Intaka Island in Century City. The Kids walk a small trail through the bird sanctuary where they meet various characters such as Spiderman and Micky Mouse. When meeting these characters, they get handed various little treats to go into their goodie bags. After the walk the kids received lunch and were entertained by a magic show.
While enjoying the day, they could get their faces painted and visit the animals at the petting zoo.
Then came Father Christmas who handed out presents to all the children at the Christmas party. A great initiative in spreading some Christmas cheer to those less fortunate. Thanks to all that make the “Pints for a Purpose” drive a great success.
Cheers
