Exactly 11 years after opening, BEERHOUSE is closing its doors after this weekend. When we opened on International Beer Day, August 2nd, 2013, international and local beer lovers flocked to enjoy Africa’s largest beer selection, featuring over 99 beers on our wall. A previously unseen diversity of beers and people celebrated together in that yellow landmark building and will come together one last time this weekend…
This sudden end is indeed connected to the Carte Blanche exposé where BEERHOUSE founder @YellowRandolf Jorberg spoke out about the 2015 murder and ongoing extortion payments that affect every business in Cape Town’s nightlife industry. Given these circumstances, the current partners agreed to close the doors and seek a buyer for assets, lease (ZAR 80k/month), and/or the brand.
